LARGE FISH MATRIX DIPLOMYSTUS AND PRISCACARA 17723
There are two large and well preserved fish in this impressive matrix. They come from the famous Green River Formation in Wyoming and are 50 million years old. The largest is Diplomystus, some 18 inches in length. These were surface feeding fish and likely fed on small surface dwelling fish like Knightia alta. The second is Priscacara, meaning "primative head" which has protective dorsal and anal spines. Both have good bone and soft tissue preservation and excellent professional preparation.
