TITLE BRITTLE STAR FOSSIL
DESCRIPTION Three of the five flexible arms of this Brittle Star are evident, two less so. As the name implies many were not preserved complete but fell apart when they died. Ophiurida usually have five long flexible arms which they used to wriggle about the ocean floors. Also referred to as snake stars they first appeared in the Early Ordovician some 500 million yras ago.
