TITLE VENUS COMB MUREX SHELL
DESCRIPTION Small but with attitude! This many spined sea shell is referred to as a Venus Comb Murex. It is a predatory sea snail from the Indo-Pacific ocean which feeds on other mollusks. It has a long siphonal canel and numerous spines to protect it from predators and to prevent it from sinking into the solf mud. Its scientific name is Murex pecten and it is a marine gastropod mollusk from the family Muricidae.
