TITLE R W AND B ZOOLOGICAL PLATE
DESCRIPTION The pottery named Robinson, Wood and Brownfield were based in Cobridge in Staffordshire between 1836 and 1841 and their makers mark "Stoneware. R.W.& B. Zoological" is found on this lovely blue and white plate. The facinating image depicts caged birds of prey, with a child and two women all in period dress looking on. The setting is London's Zoological Gardens which was opened in 1829. It is a rare and very decorative piece.
