TITLE COQUILLA NUT
DESCRIPTION To celebrate the considerable skill of the Victorian lathe turner, examples such as these were made. This elaborately turned piece, in two parts with a fine joining screw thread, was made from a coquilla nut. This nut was, like brazil nuts, a curiosity in 1870, which just added to its charm. Filled with herbs, it was a special talked about decorative piece in a ladies chamber.
