TITLE SAINSBURYS BLOATER PASTE POT
DESCRIPTION This charming small ceramic pot, dating from around 1910, bears the eye catching Sainsbury logo and once contained "Freshly made Bloater Paste." It was spread on buttered toast for tea and was a very popular product with a distinctive taste, since it was made from ungutted herring which were then smoked. 2010 finally saw this delicacy (produced by Princes in tins) discontinued.
